1998 XC70 Fuel Pressure loss V70-XC70

on this 98 xc70 i am loosing furl pressure when car is off, it is not right away, but a gradual loss of pressure. Which then leads to a hard start problem.
The system is a no-fuel return. So i am thinking it is the check valve that is built into the fuel pump. tHAT is what the dealer tells me, so thats like 500$
could there be another reson for fuel pressure loss in this system?

All pressure systems loose pressure. Mine goes from 30 to 20lbs within 5 minutes and down to 10lbs at about 30 minutes. That is not a problem. What is a problem, like the older 240s, is the check valve failure that allows air to get into the line and the fuel drains back to the tank and is replaced with air.
Your fuel pressure regulator is at the rear of the car, which sends the excess fuel back into the tank, a very short loop.
I would look at other possibilities, like injector leaks (pull the plugs after a no start attempt and check for wetness) or a dirty rotor and cap.
Pulling the gas tank and replacing the fuelpump sounds pretty extreme to me.
