Removing oil cooler lines, how to? 850 1994

My 855T oil cooler lines are starting to leak. I have new fittings and O rings that I want to see if they'll solve the problem before I go out and buy hoses.

My question is that once the hose clamp is removed does the line just pull out and, what purpose does the secondary OEM clamp that's on there serve?

Thank you

That "secondary" clamp that looks like the same as the tranny line clamp, used to be the only clamp. It comes off, but it gets pried apart. I used needle nose pliers, in reverse, to spread the clamp and slide it down the hose.
Be careful, that clamp is a little springy. The first one I did popped off and wound up in a hard to reach part of the engine bay.

Yeah that's the one, it prys open and feels springy, I have a set of them along with the two hose clamps. That will happen to me no doubt, it'll pop off and I'll never find it:)

It looks like there's two washers per fitting, a black O ring and w wider translucent washer. I'm hoping they're still on the end of the hose in their correct location so I'll have an idea of that. I'm hoping they're still there anyway, what is their orientation on the pipe, I haven't looked in the Haynes yet if it's in there.

What usually happens is the O ring fails, the washer will still be in place and you will have to pry it out of the radiator pipe - if you want to.

Good luck, especially at the engine end where visibility is rough, to say the least!!

Yep, the hoses just pull off after removing the clamp. Having only done the radiator end, what secondary clamp?

Hi Klaus, thanks for the reply.

I was referring to the almost hollow rectangular type fastener that looks like it's under the hose clamp, if that description helps. You can see it at the radiator end. The other end I think is held on by two torx screws but I have to look closer at it. I'm hoping it's the O rings but it's probably inevitable that I'll have to change the hoses at 190K.
