Radio has interference from engine and brakes.... 850 1997

So my radio has an annoying issue of having interference whenever I push the brakes (popping noise) and when the engine revs higher a noise follows it (similar to in-car rally cameras on TV). It ONLY does this on the radio setting, not CD/tape settings. I just replaced the antenna mast (which won't go down the final 4 inches....grrr) but that had no effect. Is it a lost cause to try and fix this noise? Just avoid the radio? How does my 29 year old 242GT have a perfectly good radio and antenna but my 11 year old 850 have issues? Strange.

Thanks for any guesses!

I'm going to have to dig deep for this one but there was a TSB and a fix that involved adding a ground strap to, I think, the rear hub. Do you have a sedan or a wagon? The antenna system is very different.

I've been trying to figure out what you meant by the rear hub...the wheel hub? Surely something else? Any clarification would be great!

thanks,

Forgot to mention...it's a sedan (1997). If you have any info, I'd love to hear it! Thanks again,
