Volvo Window Master Control Switch removal

Hello:

2000 V70:

When operating the front passenger window from the Window Master Control Switch on the drivers side the up function no longer works, just the down. I assume the first thing to do is to clean the switch if it is even accessible (I searched this forum and it doesn't look like it can be taken apart) and if that fails then replacement may be in order. The window will operate both ways when using the local single switch.

I have attempted to remove it but can only locate one large screw behind a tiny cover. The switch doesn't budge. Anyone ever remove this switch?

I have noticed ebay and amazon have an oem like (not oem) switch for 90 bucks but my guess it isn't near the same quality as OEM. Any advice is much appreciated.

Gene

As Rule308 stated, you need an OEM switch. My dealer once told be that the software has to be upgraded if the switch is replaced. I don't know if I believe that or not... but it is worth a check.

The switch for the pass window may just be a little dirty. Try moving the switch a hundred times, just up. That may clean the contacts and get it moving again. Cheaper than buying a new one. Besides, the passenger door switch still works.

Those switches can be just a bit of a pain in the butt. They are a simple pop in/pop out deal but the fit is so darn tight and close it is really a pain to get a pocket screwdriver in there to get it out. Once out it is an even bigger pain to get it to go back in. But, like I said, they are just a pop in and pop out deal, you need not pull anything else. The arm rest is an integral part of the door panel and pulling that screw under the little cover panel is not going to facilitate anything.

Also, do waste your time and money on any knock off e-bay switch panels, stuff a factory one in it and be done with it. Afterall, your factory one is currently dying, you don't really think that the Taiwanese knock off part is going to work better do you?
