You are correct, there is very little room. BUT, if you go slowly, the belt will come off. Just remember, the new one will go on easer.
Removing the crank pully is not an option in your case. You will spend a lot of wasted time trying to get it off and not turning the crank.

I assume the belt is off of everything but the crank. Try to lightly push the belt down to give slack to the belt, then pull it straight forward starting from the right side. Once 2mm of belt is past the crank on the right side, then work more of the belt free just slightly up from there.

Make sure you are not lying upside down, you will have no leverage that way. You should have both hands on the belt at the same time.

I have never tried an electric impact on it but I bet the Milwaukee that I have at home would do it if you left it on there long enough. The trick is that you must take the dampner off while the belt is still in place. What you do is shoot off the four bolts that hold it on, shoot off the one big nut in the center, this will move things a little bit but it does not matter because the belt is installed and everything is going to move. With all of the bolts and the one nut removed, reinstall the big nut, realign all of your marks, and shoot the nut back off. When you reinstall the nut so you can twist the timing marks into alignment you only tighten the nut as much as is necessary to get the belt to move. One quick shot of the impact gun will blow the nut back off without moving anything. With all of the hardware removed and the timing marks aligned go in with a big pry bar and place it between the back of the dampner at the 6:00 position and the front of the engine cradle and give it a serious shove and it should pop it loose and then you are in. This method works great, if you cannot make it work for you then just keep fussing with the belt and you can snake it out from behind the dampner.

You can jack up the engine a bit for more room. Block of wood under the oil pan and jack up slightly. Some folks just cut the old belt off.

I have an impact gun so I just shoot the nut and bolts off of the dampner and remove it. I makes getting the belt, tensioner, and other things out much easier. Aside from pulling the dampner rolling the belt in and out of there is not that big of a deal, take the tin shield out of the way and simply roll it out.
