Any way to reduce turbo lag on 850T5 850

Just that. Is there any way to have to turbo kick in sooner then 3k rpm?
Not looking for a power upgrade at all..just wanna feel the turbo come in sooner.

Turbos have inherent lag due to their weight and exhaust flow. You can reduce the weight by making them smaller but then they run out of output at high rpms. You can also reduce the weight by making the impeller lighter but that's rather expensive. You can use two turbos as some cars do. A small one that spools up fast for low rpms and a larger one with higher output and longer delay for high rpms. Obviously this is expensive also. There are also variable ventury turbos that try to overcome lag that way. Right. Expensive too. Your Porsche is alot better because you can buy two or three Volvos for the price of one Porsche. But obviously you do get more than just a better turbo. The TurboBricks web site has alot of good info.

Add an antilag system like rallycars use. They sound AMAZING--they totally mess up valve timing in order to push unburnt fuel into the exhaust which explodes there and keeps the turbo spooled! A royal hoot indeed. But your turbo/engine will only be good for a few thousand miles....

Other than that, a different turbo would work.

    Good luck.

Just down shift and play! No, the lag is inherrant to the design of the turbo.

Oh i understand that it is very much part of the way that a turbo works..but on this engine it is SOOOOO late to spool up..my other car a porsche 944 turbo has full boost 'MORE THEN THE VOLVO' by 2900rpm..and its a kick in the butt even when it has less power then the volvo..now i am not trying to compare the 2 at all..these are 2 totally different animals but the volvo with the turbo sitting so close to the head (the porsche has the turbo on the other side by the intake) that i just feel either mine is bad or something else is going on..i have full boost (midway on the boost side of the gauge) by 3500-3700 rpm.. too slow i think.

If you think it is slow, try it in Colorado Springs! I almost got run over waiting for the rpms to come up!
The easiest mod is to get a better turbo, forget changing the waste gate rod which can put serious pressure on the pistons and break rods.
        The 944T is a fun car :)
