Strange clock behavior 98 S70 S70

Recently my dashboard was relamped and after this my clock won't keep time. Whenever the vehicle is started, the clock starts at 00:00 and only keeps track of the time the vehicle has been running. A restart of the vehicle and the clock starts at 00:00 once again.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

One of the leads going to the back of the instrument cluster may be loose. Any loss of power will zero out the clock. I have seen this happen on cars with low voltage.

      Klaus:

I found my problem. My vehicle battery was almost shot. I should have suspected something was wrong as my heated seats took forever to heat, and when I turned on the rear defrost, everything would dim out.

It turns out my battery was at the end of its life and since I have replaced it, my clock (and other accessories) work fine now.

So here's one for the books. Check your battery state.
