How far to step up? S-70 or S-60? 850

I own two 97 850 wagons, a GLT and an R, both of which I work on. I'm looking at buying either a 2000 S-70 or a 2001-2003 S-60 for my sister who is 73. The S-70 is a bigger car (more steel, more protection, but haven't checked curb weights yet) but it doesn't have three airbags like the S-60. How significant a factor is this when l comparing the two cars? I assume I can do everything on the S-70 that I can on my 850's, but I've heard the S-60 is a completely different animal because of the Motronic system. Are the improvements in the S-60 significant and decisive compared to the last year they made the S-70? Dick

Any S70 is a step up from your 850s :)

The S60 is a smaller car with less leg room for the rear seat. Still, it has a good sized trunk and all of the safety bells & whistles. And the 5 cyl engine. I suggest that if you sister is short, she test drive one just for visibility out of the rear of the car.

Get the S60, newer the better.
