Where is the CC brain 850

The cruise control on my 95 sedan does not work. My wife's 94 wagon recently died. One of the parts I'm taking from her car to put on mine is the cruise control brain, assuming there is one. If so, where the heck is it? I really don't know exactly what's wrong with the cc on my car. I figured I'd swtich all the easy stuff from her car and hope it works.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

There is no "brain" as such. I would suspect a vacuum leak, under the battery, or the switch just above the brake pedal inside of the car. The relays seldom go bad.

Well that's 2 for under the battery. I'll give a look around the break pedal too. Come to think of it, I replaced the little pedal switch down there a while back. Seems like it was about the time the cc started acting strange. Hmmm...

There are 2 switches at the brake pedal, one for the brake light and the other for the CC. Make sure the CC switch is not extended when the pedal is in the normal position. If you are off by 1mm, it will not allow the CC to work.

Such that there is a "brain" it is in the upper central electrical unit (Fuse Box, relay 101/102.

If you have not done so download the factory service manual at:

http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/downloads/Volvo_850.zip

Once you unzip it see the file named "cruise control system.pdf". Since you have '94 and '95 models the system is easy to diagnose.

Sweet. I wish I had know about that zip file about 7 years ago. Never came across it.
Thanks

my '94 850 cruise would not engage.
dealer reconnected a hose under the batttery area that dealer said comes off from time to time.
i have never had the problem since and thus no need to look for this little hose. i suspect it might a vacumm hose though.

I kinda figured it would be more like a vac leak than an electrical problem. I'll have to look around for that little hose.
Thanks
