serpentine belt 850

Hi,

Any suggestions or steps on how to change the serpentine belt?

    It shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour. Lift up the coolant bottle, unplug the electrics to it, and place it on top of the block.
    Pull back the tensioner as described by Ozark Lee and use a small allan wrench or drill bit to put into the locking hole. Memorize the route of the belt before removing. If the new belt is a diffferent length, there is a different routing for it, check on Bay13 for a diagram.

    Clearly the first step is to buy a new belt.

    The tensioner is a problem, I have 2 850's and diminishing patience so I shelled out the $30.00 or so to buy the IPD tool which makes it a snap. The subject came up on another board the other day and the cheap and easy solution that worked was to tape 2 pennies, on opposing sides, of a 1/2" ratchet or a 1/2" breaker bar. It will grab the goofy sized release square on the serpentine belt tensioner.
