V70 Third Row Seat and Cargo cover V70-XC70

I got some answers to this in my question about V70 fuel economy.
This is about 2001-2002 V70, a have two more questions.

1. If the third row seats are removed from the car, will there be an open recessed space in the floor or some sort of cover will remain and make the floor flat?

2. Do all V70 come with the cargo are covers (those pull-out vinyl things?. If no, can they be installed in any V70? Are these covers available in only one design (pull-out soft ones), or there are other, more rigid?

    Hi, This URL shows the installation so you can see the parts involved: http://www.geocities.com/ozbrick850/rearseat/index.html The seat bottom bolts to carpeted plywood panels that hinge to the cargo area. When I bought mine from eBay they came with the plywood attached, and now I have an extra set. I would think it not too hard to either just unbolt the seats and replace the plywood (and specify that if you sell them) or find a new set of carpeted panels at a recycler or private seller.
    I had wanted the cargo cover in the beginning, but then gave up on it as not being all that vital. I remember them as not being too hard to track down, but a bit expensive. Good luck and have fun with the car.

    The pull-out vinyl cargo area cover was an optional accessory in 1999. If your car never had one, some holes will need to be drilled in the plastic trim below the windows just behind the rear (second row) seat. I think a drilling template comes with the cover if you buy it new from Volvo. Is it still available?

    Hi,

    1. Yes, there's a panel to put in place of the 3-rd row when it's
    removed so that the floor becomes flat. However if you're bying it
    from private party who was always driving around with the 3-rd row -
    he may very well heve lost it over time. ;-)

    2. No, back in 2001 you could've easily bought V70 without the cover.
    Yes, it can be installed on any V70 to the best of my knowledge - in the
    top of second row rear side there will be a placeholder for the cover.
    Shouldn't be very expensive either.
