Transmission issues Need advice Please C70 2001

I'm having tranny issues and need advice please.

1. Where the heck is the tranny fluid dip stick on a 2001 C70? It doesn't seem to be where the manual says it is; near the front right side of the radiator. And once I find it, where do you add fluid if needed? This seems too simple, but I can not locate it. I'm hoping that low fluid may be the cause of the following problems.

2. My tranny is shifting hard, almost like when you pop the clutch on a standard tranny. This also happens when the engine down-shifts. It also doesn't happen all the time; it seems to go in spurts. Any ideas??

3. This may or may not be related, but occationally (once a every 4-6 weeks) the Winter Driving arrow on the dash flash on & off continuously. When this occurs the engine boggs down producing almost no power. If I shut off the motor and let it sit for awhile it resets itself and all is OK. But I have no idea what is causing this problem.

All help with any of this is really appreciated!!

Mike

The tranny dipstick, yellow plastic, is on the driver's side under the fresh air intake. Not an easything to spot.
Check the level when the fluid is HOT, usually 10-15mins of driving. The dipstick has a hot and cold side measure and needs to be at the top mark or just slightly above.
If your car has a 5 speed, you will Mobile ATF 3309 fluid, a 4 speed can use Dexron/Mercon. Check the back of the owner's manual.
If the fluid is not reddish in color, then you need to flush it. Either DIY (30 minuutes) or have a Volvo shop do it for you.

Your PNP switch may be going bad. Check if you have back up lights. It is not good driving the car in limp home mode.
