Light bulb out indicator on with brakes. C70 2000

My '00 C70's 'light out' idiot light comes on when I depress the brake pedal. I have replaced the brake light bulbs 3x. I even had the dealer replace them. No fix yet. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be?
Thanks.

There is a bulb failure relay that may be bad.

Are the bulb illuminating with the same level of intensity?

If not, maybe a bad ground circuit to one of the bulbs or a bad connection in the bulb socket.

The dash 'light out' lites up when the brake pedal is depressed. Wiring and sockets ahve been inspected at tail lights.
Where is this 'relay' located that you mentioned?
      Any other ideas?

      Thanks.

If you have replaced any one of the brake bulbs at any point it can cause this problem. The way the lamp fail works is to measure the current difference through the bulbs. If any of the three bulbs are different due to it being a different spec, it will cause the fail lamp to come on.

Nope, bulbs were replaced in pairs. Where is the relay unit located?
          Thanks.
