The konis are on! The threads on both nuts on top of the strut tower have the same number of threads exposed.
As to the 11.81 inches of compressed spring, I compressed the second one to about that much - just under 12 inches - and it went together very nicely. The star nut did the same thing: it screwed down until it just stopped, period. It would not go any farther, regardless of torque.
I left them in the softest position for a short test run. My wife is going to like the softer ride, and I can make it harder when I am by myself. The car wheel well rose by about 1/4 inch, so no big deal. At least the expansion bumps don't feel as bad, and there is no longer any dive or lift with the brake or accelleration.
The bolts supplied by FCP are questionable. The old strut bolts were 17mm with 18mm nuts. The new ones have 15mm heads and 17mm nuts. I just might change them out one of these days. Also, the 6 nuts on the top of the strut tower were 10mm instead of 12mm.
Sorry I am so slow. It took me 2 hours per side, but I hate jacks and stands.
