Possessed V70? Early Holloween haunting? V70-XC70 2000

Sorry for the lengthy post.

Please offer your comments or experiences. I know all this could be coincidental but it just seems too much.

1. Been working with Victor on an ABS problem for a couple of months. He's been extremely supportive and helpful but so far I can't track down the source.
2. Along with the ABS related PO500 (vehicle speed sensor) codes, I am getting an occasional P1670 - relating to the Volvo anti-theft system.
3. The AC fan began failing intermittently a couple of weeks ago and after a burnt electrical odor yesterday, it fails consistently now after running about 3 seconds. I haven't read the AC error codes yet.
4. Over the weekend, I noticed the instrument panel lights constantly "flickering". They weren't going on and off, but just going slightly dim and then back to normal. Then I realized that every light in the car including the headlights is doing the same thing. The flickering frequency seems to match the engine RPMs but I can't be sure. Really, at this point it is barely perceptable.
5. At the same time, I noticed the clock and tripmeter had recently (60 miles on the tripmeter)been reset as though the battery had been disconnected, but I haven't disconnected the battery. (I didn't think to check the rest of the information display data)

The car starts and runs great and besides the P0500 and P1670 codes there are no others. I've owned the car almost a year and it has about 92,000 miles on it. I bought it from the original owner and it was well cared for. I've been limited to weekend work because my son uses it to go to college, but I'm beginning to feel like I should just park it until all this is resolved.

I plan to check out the alternator (voltage regulator?) and battery. Could a malfunctioning alternator or other electrical system problem be causing ALL of these issues? They all depend on a steady 12V power source right? At this point I need all the technical and/or moral support you can provide.

Thanks,

Calvin

Some of those symptoms are probably related to the ground cable to the battery. If it gets dirty, the electrics go nuts, so clean both ends of the cables to your battery. follow the ground to the car and make sure that is also not dirty.

The cabin fan probably has a burned out rehostat, or what ever you call it, that changes the speed of the fan when you slide the switch. 2 different ones, one for manual and one for electronic climate control(temps in the dials).
