01 XC Surges when coming to a stop V70-XC70

My 2001 XC is "surging" when I come to a stop. It will drop low in rpm's then surge and go to normal. Then while at idle, it will surge a bit. When the air cond. is on, it will get worse. Any hints, Thank, Darryl

    Hey Darrel.

    Same problem on our car. It is related to the AC electronic clutch. Gradually these wear out. Then, since it is not strong enough to hold your AC "on" all the time, it cycles on/off constantly. This makes for a rough idle.

    I think it is worst when you are slowing to a stop AND the A/C engages right as you glide to a stop. This makes your engine almost kill. Then as it recovers, your car surges up to 1400rpm and nearly rear-ends the people in front of you. Am I right?

    Anyway, it AC clutch is something I am hoping to have fixed someday. Pls let me know if you have different experiences.
