InMotion Tuning Chips 850 1995

I was looking on ebay for an ecu upgrade, and found a chip service from InMotion Tuning USA. They claim to be able to increase my stock horsepower by 50, and my stock torque by 50 lbs/ft. It seems too good to be true for only $200. Is it?

Thanks
Joe

Do not just look at the bhp claims. If the torque goes over 275 in 1st and 2nd gear, you will cook the tranny. IPD's chip has a limiter for 1st and 2nd. The only problem with IPD is that they want your chip, and then when you want a dealers help with something else, the IPD chip will signal them to not work on your engine.
Find a chip at a junk yard for a 1995, send it to IPD and have that one programmed, or make sure that the InMotion chip is your extra chip and you keep yours.

Any car whose stock engine controls are programmed so poorly that there is room for that kind of increase would never be certified on emissions grounds for sale in the US, EC, Australia, etc., and would produce such poor fuel economy and performance that no one would buy it even if offered.

The engineers who design cars aren't that stupid. If there were a way to get such an edge everyone would have done it years ago - electronic engine controls now have a 40 year history, during which lots and lots of experiments were done.

    Don't waste your money.

I dunno about IMotion, but the IPD chip will definetly deliver the same sort of improvement. The 850 motor is notoriously 'under tuned' compared to what it is capable of delivering. Some folks are getting 300 HP at the wheel, though that takes a lot more than just a chip.

Ever look at the IPD catalogue?

Are you kidding me buddy. I've been running a chipped audi 2.7T A6 for three years it has boosted my HP by 60 and same with the torque (dyno proven). And yes my gas milage has improved from 18.1 to 19.3 mpg. Chip tuning for a turbo has been around mfor many years. THe concerns are that the increase boost/Hp can effect engine longevity. I haven't chip my volvo as of yet but good data is seen with TME and others. Don't know anyone with in-motion chip?
