My 1999 volvo 850 wagon non turbo runs real rough. I had previously changed a defective ect.It ran ok for about 3 months. Then it sat for 2 weeks. I checked the codes with my handheld scanner and no codes were returned. I then proceeded and replaced the following as a standard maintenance procedure. The spark plugs , cap , rotor , fuel filter , MAF . The car still ran real rough and hardly running. After test driving it i had noticed smoke coming from under the car. The cat was cherry read so i replaced that too. And it still runs rough with no codes returned. I checked all cylinders for TDC in relation to the distr. tower position. All was ok there too. Can anyone help me. Thanks The Diman

    Hot cat could be due to very rich mixture. Check for excessive fuel pressure or flow - bad regulator, leaking injectors, etc. Also what about the wiring to the ECT? Does the temp gauge on the dash read ok (this is operated by the ECT sensor)?
