2000 V70 75k never been crashed. Just recently the horn will honk when turning. Wife says it's happened once while going straight i.e. not turning. The honking has occurred on three separate trips. Each time the outdoor temperature has been near 100 degrees…the only correlating factor. Any ideas what to check first? I’m assuming it could be something in steering wheel. I’ve been a Volvo driver my entire adult life…this is a first!

    Did someone remove steering wheel or airbag for a non-accident related repair such as fixing a/c evaporator, dashlights, etc., and reinstall not following the factory procedure?

      No...there has never been any work on the steering column. I've read several other posts on this subject today and my symptom sound exactly like those. So...I'm going to pop the cover and airbag out and look at 4 switches for the horn. Thanks.

        Just a word of caution, do not put the key in the ignition without the airbag in place. Only the dealer can turn off the SRS light.

        It sounds like you need a new horn ring.

        Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)

    There is a kit on ebay that will fix this problem. Just go to ebay Motor, Parts and Accessories and type in volvo horn fix. That ought to do it.
