Unable to erase 'warning message' S80 2002

"Message Center" indicated failed position bulb. Bulb was indeed burned out. Bulb replaced. All other lights working. By pressing 'erase' buttong, message disappears, only to return when car is restarted. "Message Center" indicates I have one message, ie, the bulb failure message. What am I doing wrong??

Alan, did you replace same type bulb, also replace that bulb position on the other side of the car, bulb circuit looks for equal voltage drop on right/left side of car, check your ground wire to the bad socket..remove both bulbs for that position on both sides of the car and see if messsage goes away..if it does you may have a bad connection, clean out the sockets of the bad bulb..good luck..KYVOLVO

Older Volvos have had this problem. If you bought a bulb at a parts store, there were 2 bulbs in the package. Use the other bulb on the other side of the car. There may be a voltage difference between the new bulb and the old one.

Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)

Thanks for the suggestion on changing both bulbs. I tried that and still am unable to 'erase' the bulb failure message.
