Heater-AC trouble codes? How to read? S70 1998

How are these read? OBD tool or Volvo only. The older series had the code reader built in under the hood, but these are not so simple. I have those flashing lights before things kick in and wonder what the problem is although it seems to cool adequately.

Help appreciated,

dick

Heater-AC trouble codes? How to read? S70 1998

Volvo only code reader :( for non engine related items.

Your problem could be just a dirty cabin temp sensor. The ECC needs to be pulled out to get to the backside of the temp sensor. The sensor has 2 plastic clips, at 6 and 12 o'clock, that need to be depressed and then pull straight back towards the firewall. Be careful of the small temp sensor at the tip.

I cleaned mine with a tooth pick, wooden.

Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)

It is 102 degrees right now so will pass on getting too involved. I do have an insulated airconditioned garage but wife just brought her 940 SE in so even a good AC has limits.

Will let you know how it goes.
