Climate control dead S70

I have a 1998 S70 with 198,000 miles. The climate control system is dead--no AC, no heat, no blower running--nothing. The fuses are okay. Was running fine until a couple of days ago. Any ideas where to start looking?

There is a large relay in the fuse tray. If there are no lights in the ECC, the wires may have come loose from the back. Pull the radio out and then yank the ECC straight out, it will be hard :)

    Bet it's a relay,

      Klaus,

Thanks for the reply. I checked out the large relay and it is okay. There are no flashing lights on the ECC. I also pulled out the ECC and the wires were okay. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. If the compressor or the blower is dead, would this cause the problem?

The system will only work if the blower is working. If the blower speed switch died, and it is stuck in pos 0, no ECC.
You can check the blower by supplying 12V from the battery directly to the leads on the motor. You will be able to see it without taking off the glove box. Next to the blower is the resistor pack which regulates the speed of the blower. If that is getting voltage and none to the blower, that's a problem.

There was a very recent thread regarding the fan speed switch, look for it.
