before I install evaporator the manual says to treat core for concret odor problems. What is this treatment? Is there an alternative? Is it necessary?

Is this a Volvo manual that you're referring to? If you can't smell anything by sniffing the evap there shouldn't be any odor problem. I did mine last year and have 4 or 5 rather short 10mm bolts left over that I couldn't find a place for. If you don't mind sending me an e-mail when you're done I'd appreciate some help getting them back in place. lgspooner@verizon.net Thanks....

That doesn't make sense to me either :) The concrete they are refering to are "glue" odors, or welding. A simple wash should do that.
Make sure you install a cabin filter.

Lots of guts, doing it yourself. I envy you...

Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)

I wonder if they meant to treat the evaporator box which often gets moldy and smells like someone puked in your car when you first turn on the A/C
