hi im new in the forum! i just bought a 1999 c70 but a message came on in the dashboard the light that came on is ETS but i dont know waht it means could you tell me what it meas. i got scared cause i just bought it and that light came on , id aprecciate your help

    Lets hope that is your only problem. The ETM is covered under warranty for 2 more years, so get this car to a dealer. Only a dealer can read the ETM codes anyway.
    If the ETM/ETS dies, you will be left with out a throttle, so bring your phone with you and make the dealer come pick you up (covered under warranty).

      OK, KLAUS MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY MY CAR IS A 1999 C70 YOU THINK I CAN STILL ASK FOR WARRANTY , I HAVE 142,000 MILES ON THE CAR. WHAT I DONT WANT IS TO SPEND UNNESESARY MONEY JUST TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AND SPEND MORE THAN A 100 DOLARS FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON TODAY'S MORNING, I ALLREADY KNOW THAT I NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BUT IS THERE ANYWHERE ELSE THAT I CAN TAKE IT TO? DO I NEED TO REPLACE SOMETHING ALLREADY? LIKE I SAID THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON TODAY.

            Yep, still a dealer only fix. Search on ETM and you will find enough reading material to last you 6 months.

              ETM AND EST have the same function then, like i said before i found an article that said volvo extended their warranty to 10 years or 200,000 miles how true is that? if its true do you think that just by taking the car in they'll just fix the problem without charging you nothing?

    ETS means Electronic Throttle System. You should have it checked out. There can be issues here with oxygen sensors and mass air that need attention. You'll find some stuff in the achieves if you search, or your could Google it to read more about ETS.

I READ SOMETHING ABOUT USING A SPECIFIC GASOLINE FOR THIS BVEHICLES DO YOU THINK THAT WHY IT CAME ON, I'VE BEEN USING 89 OCTANE SINCE I BOUGHT IT .         Okay....here it is. It is a good thing that the light came on. If you check it out NOW NOW NOW. You will save many headaches. It is a safety feature.

        Is it a bad thing that the light came on? Yes, it is inconvenient and a bummer.

        Don't borrow any trouble from tomorrow. Just see to today. See to the ETS before you beat yourself up. You likely didn't do anything wrong. Follow the advice you got from Klaus.
