A/C Recharge ?? V70-XC70 2001

The pressure on the LP side is running about 18-22 psi...A/C blows cool, not cold...lots of cycling from the compressor. I cannot get any freon to flow into the system. I am using an ID quick cool gun and a fresh tank of freon. The gun has some sort of check valve to keep gas from spraying out if you pull the trigger without it being hooked up. Did Volvo buid a check valve into the LP side to force it to be filled from the HP side, or is my gun screwed up (first time I have used it)?

Any help appeciated..

-Dave

There is no high pressure port, so it must be your gun.

Please answer your responses. We need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)

My V70 has both. The HP is in the front left by the radiator...easy to get to...too big for the LP recharge fitting...with a small tube dia. ...the LP side is down below the coolant tank. Volvo seems to have built the system to be serviced via HP (it is right out in front, while the LP is really hard to get to). Although the V70 does not seem to be designed to be easy to work on...
