vibration V70-XC70 2001

my '01 XC has a vibration at about 60 mph that is felt in the gas pedal. It disappears at about 70 mph. Sometimes I hear a grinding noise that goes away. Occasionally I also hear a clunk coming from the rear. I suspect a Cv joint or two as the vibration problem but have no clue as to the clunk or grinding noise. Anyone had a similar problem? Klaus?

    vibration V70-XC70 2001

I have no ideas, but a similar problem. I just purchased an 01 XC and there was
a lot of tire drone and cyclical buzzing at 60mph at a level that interferes with
pleasant radio listening. I replaced the partially worn scorpion tires with new
michelins. That helped a little, but not enough. The left front tire still
sounds very loud on the highway. I don't know anything about AWD or these new
style of tires, but I read also in the original test drive of the 2001 that there
was considerable tire drone. I suppose this can be exasperated by other factors, such as the higher ground clearance.

Has anybody been successful in reducing highway noise? It drives like a dream,
but the noise is a bit of a spoiler....
