Recommendations re DC-area mechanics? 850 1994

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good mechanic in the DC metro area; I recently moved to northwest DC and am seeking someone to trust with my baby.

I perform most of my own work. When I can't I go to Autoscandia, in Sterling VA (Spring St.). That's a long way to drive for you though. Martins Volvo (River Rd., Bethesda) has a good reputation also ( Volvo club meets there).

My '87 240 and '99 S70 have enjoyed:

Dulles VA (near Sterling Wal-mart):
Ashburn European Service Center
703-406-4000, Glen Jensen

Silver Spring:
Moshe's Auto Care, if your Swedish car needs scolding in Hungarian and Hebrew

In Rockville (near White Flint Mall): Scott's Specialties

Thanks for the advice, guys. Anyone have any recent experience with Volvo Mercedes Motorcars in NW DC (by the Whole Foods) ? I live VERY close to it; it seems a natural choice for me, presuming they are honest.

Another vote for Scandinavian Import ServiCenter in Rockville.
Others, which may not be as handy to you:
AutoScandia, Herndon VA
Swedish Motor Cars, Falls Church VA

Recommendations re DC-area mechanics? 850 1994

Hello -
I have taken my 850 GLT to a place called "International Foreign Car Service" in Westminster, MD for most everything that I couldn't handle. It's a little bit of a hike from DC proper, depending on your definition of hike, but I commuted from there to Dupont Circle a while back every day for a number of months. So I think it'd be worth it to bring the car there.

Ick (that's the main mechanic's name, pronounced just like you'd think) replaced the rear main seal on my 850 in two days for $550! That was 30,000 miles ago and not a drop of oil. His phone # is 410-876-7030.

If you're north DC, Westminster shouldn't be a problem. Just go out Georgia Avenue (Rt. 97) towards Silver Spring and keep going for 45 minutes or so.

I once got service on my 855 at Scandinavian Import Specialists { http://www.scandinavianimport.com/ }. They were okay for a simple brake job; I can't claim any extensive experience with them.

It's even possible to use the Metrorail to get there (Red Line to Shady Grove station) if you pick up a taxi for a few blocks at the end of the trip (between the Shady Grove station and the service center).

I have my SAAB 95 and 850 serviced at Scandananvian also. They go pretty good work, lot cheaper than the dealer. They will also pick/drop you up/off from/to the Rockville Metro station.

my $.02
