SPS Warning Light On 850

Hi All

Just replaced the driver's side seat belt assembly on a 96 850 GLT

Went to a salvage yard and got the new assembly from a 95 850 Turbo on which none of the airbags had been deployed.

Everything fit and the belt works ... but the SPS lamp is lit on the dash.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Either you turned the key on with the pretensioner unplugged on the belt, the conector is noot firmly seated on the replacement belt, oor the replacement belt pretensioner circuit is bad.
The sips bag is NOT electrically deployed and will NOT turn on any warning lights.

When you removed the seat belt unit, it created an error code that just needs to be reset. I did the same thing in my Audi and had the same issue.

Did you take the seat out? The 1996 has an electric plug for SIPS. If you turned the key to pos I or II at any time while the SIPS was unplugged, it is off to the dealer to get the code reset.
