Stabilizer bar (anti-sway) bar broken: Drivability, part and replace que 850

I just noticed that my front stabilizer (anti-sway) bar is broken.

I see IPD has a kit that includes rear and front bars. eEuropart do not have any. I will check Swedish Engineering. I just need the front.

Is a used bar a good idea?

Can I still drive around or will the broken bar can catch onto something and snap other things?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info 850

I got a stabilizer bar from Swedish Engineering. 'not sure why, but there are 3 types of bar diameter. And they said that they are not interchangable.

I got the 20 mm one.

I have to guess the torque. No Hanes manual. Let me know, how much on the mounting bolts (two on each side that holds the bar to the sub-frame) and how much on the links?

Thanks.

Ronjon

Now is definetly the time to buy the ipds. It will never be more economical as you have to spend some bucks anyway. Do not mix them, buy both front and rear. Wish one of OEMs would break so the wife can not complain about the cost too much.

Buy the IPD bars, you won't believe how well your car now handles.

I'd check out one of the discount Volvo parts dealers -- if not Erie Vovo or one of the other recyclers.

I'm running a iPd front bar with a rear factory HD bar. My first iPd bar just snapped -- iPd was just great about replacing it free, but the replacement looked identical to the one that broke -- so I just kept the rear factory HD bar on. If my front bar broke, I'd just put the factory bar back on.

The sway bar itself is broken and not just one or both of the links?
