Bevel Gear Transfer Pump V70-XC70

There was a posting months back where a specific type of pump was mentioned for transferring the oil in/out of the casing. I can't find it, could someone help.
Also fluid type.

Thanks.

    Bevel Gear Transfer Pump V70-XC70

That was me. MightyVac, sold in autoparts stores and Sears. With it you feed the vacuum side hose into the lowest part of the bevel gear case, the other end into a 2 quart bottle and pump away.
Pour the new fluid into an identical bottle to just slightly above the amount you took out (some will be in the pump and tubes). Turn the pump around and suck the new stuff back into the bevel gear case. About .8 quart. I would go to the dealer a spend a lot of money for a 1 quart bottle. Or call the parts dept and ask them what a good substitue would be, probably Mobile 3309, but I am not sure.

    MityVac? .... V70-XC70

I recently saw a link to a webpage where a guy recommended using a MityVac. That's a small, handheld pump, originally sold to use the vacuum (less preferrable than the better positive pressure) method to flush brake fluid.

The guy said that the MityVac can be used to go either way, pumping out old fluid and pumping in the new fluid. Just use graduated containers to be sure that you've got the right volume.

I don't know if this is what you were thinking of, but it's a possibility -- although I'm not endorsing it, as I haven't used the MityVac for this.

In boating shops, there are electrically powered pumps for doing oil changes in marine (inboard) engines -- but that might be overkill, as the reliable ones are in the $100-200 range, and you want to transfer barely a liter of fluid.

    Good luck.
