Help with electronic key

Trying to replace a lost key for 2005 XC70 at less than the nearly $300 quoted by dealer for a new one. I obtained a key from a totaled car and the dealer quoted 1/2 hour labor to program and $35 for the new key blade. Unfortuantely they could not do the programing without the original key code from the junker to de-program the key before re-programing it for my car. Does anybody know of a work around for this?

Not knowing what part of the world you are in, I suggest you call other dealers. The key is usually ordered from the factory in Sweden, no programming is involved, and should not cost $300 unless you are also getting remotes.

Too bad you wasted you money on a key from Ebay.

Klaus

Well yes, since the key was lost I do need the remote - one piece switchblade.

I just visited Borton Volvo and they told me the same story. If you had broken the key and still had the remote, it would have cost $170! But to replace the switchblade, $300.
Sorry,

Klaus
