strange loss of power when passing 850

I picked up a 94 turbo wagon for my girlfriend's father last week and drove it cross country with no problems. except for one. when i put my foot down, at highway speeds to pass for example, the car accelerates as normal then bogs down then returns to accelerating then bogs down again. it alternates between these conditions until i let my foot off the gas a little. does anybody have any ideas? perhaps something to do with the turbo? leaks? vacuum? any input most appreciated. thanks brickboard. warren

i think you have a blocked fuel filter, there is one in the fuel tank, on the end of fuel pump, wire gauze type, but first check inline filter under vehicle

At full boost, it it cuts out then it is probably being flooded. Check your spark plugs, turbos are very picky about having good spark when being drowned with gasoline.

If the transmission fluid looks burned definitely change it but you may as well do it anyway just to be on the safe side. How's the air filter? Also check the acccordian air intake tube. They've been known to crack.

Sounds like fuel starvation. Check your fuel pump/relay/filter/FPR.

I had a similar problem that turned out to be an improperly attached fuel line at the fuel pump. The line from the pickup to the pump was just barely touching the nipple it was supposed to be attached to. When I accelerated, the fuel in the tank would push on the line enough to allow it to suck some air. reinstalled the hose and that took care of it.

        Good Luck
