CD Player Flashes track numbers, reverts to 00:00 850 1993

Hi. I have a CD player located in the trunk. Lately, when a CD is selected to play from the console, the display flashes the selection number a couple of times, then reverts to 00:00. No sound. No music. Doesn't matter which CD of 6 is chosen to play. These are orginially-purchased CD's and copies which have dependably played on this system before. Did a search here, but am spending a lot of time and not finding a similar post/problem. Hoping for an easy solution. Thanks!

    It could be just very dusty inside. Take the cartridge out, remove the CDs, and blow out the dust. Do the same for the player.
