in my 98 volvo s70 the air conditioning is not working. the compressor kicks on if I jump the wire. I have jumped the low presure switch and also checked the relay. when I unplug the high side and then plug it back in rapidly then the compressor will kick on but only for about a second if I stop then the compressor stops. what could be the issue?

any help would be much appreciated.

I checked the pressure on the low side and it was 30 to 35 when on so i think that it has enough. it gets cold and works ok but, when I rapidly unplug and plug the high switch it works so I dont know what to do from here

Sounds like the pressure is too low. Have you tried adding a can of r134a?
