Is this average mileage/economy for my '95 850 Turbo? 850

I've been driving my first 850 for about six months now and I'm still trying to get a handle on the mileage. Right now I'm getting @20mpg in mixed driving (Atlanta, very little "park-hour" driving for me) and 24-25mpg in highway driving at speeds around 70-75mph.
My last car was an '87 240 wagon, auto and non turbo... I thought the mileage was unacceptable in that car at 26-27mpg on the highway (on a good day) and I was looking for something at least as good as my '85 245 Turbo manual which got around 30mpg on the highway at the same speeds I drive the 850 at.

Here are the details on the car. 1995 850 Turbo, automatic (sigh) with OK rubber all the way around, new air filter, Mobile 1 5w-30 oil, new plugs cap and rotor and a very light foot on the gas. I've been over and over the engine looking for vacuum leaks and found a few...which seemed to have no effect on the mileage. I THINK I have a boost leak because I can hear it bleeding off when I'm accelerating but I haven't been able to find that yet. I also don't think that would have much effect on steady state mileage?

I'm going to do a compression test next weekend and see if I can track down that boost leak while I'm at it. What are some other things I can check?! Or is this about all I can expect out of the car. At this point I'm thinking about seeing if I can swap it for a clean 244 Turbo or trade it in on a civic. 25mpg just isn't going to cut it...

Thanks for any input, let me know what other info I can provide.
-Pel

I was getting about 24 mpg in my 94 850T on the highway at 65 mph. Then I had the PCV system overhauled and mileage went to 29 mpg.

    Hungry, hungry horses! 850

Since I've been telecommuting and only short distance driving, I've gone down to 18MPG! Previously, my mileage was about what you're getting. I've logged in every fill for 172,000 miles, it never changed much.

Your around town milage is appropriate for the 850T. Highway whould be about 2-3mpg more, but that depends a lot on tire tread design/maker and pressure.
Do not rely on the computer to tell you what the miles/tank are, you need to calculate it yourself: miles divided by gallons. My computer told me I was getting 23.3 at a steady 84mph,into the wind across Nebraska, and when I tanked up I got 26+.

Remember to use E when you are on the Interstates :)

Believe you are on target for that car. Once you get into the 98 S-70 mileage is better with a different fuel management system. Our 94 850 gets what you do but my 98 S 70 T5 gets 26-29 mpg. BTW, never has a 240 that got the mpg you claim unless I feather footed it.

    I am the original owner of a 1995 850 Turbo 850 sedan.

You are fine - my 850 get's same MPG now as new. Completely in line with your MPG.

Have fun - these are great cars.
