I have replaced the air pump with a new pump & and the air pump relay also. The pump only works if you hot wire it to the battery. I know that it runs only during startup(2 minutes or so). The check engine light does not function when you turn the ignition key either. I cannot get the P0410 code to clear. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    First of all, what do you mean by "I cannot get the P0410 code to clear."

    The code will not clear by simply replacing the pump/relay. You have to clear the error code using a code reader.

    Assuming you have done this, the code may re-appear. It will likely not re-appear right away as testing of the SAS system (the air pump system) is part of an individual self-test that is run occassionally, under very specific conditions.

    Assuming the code does re-appear, you have something else going on with the system. The large vaccuum-operated valve on top of the exhause manifold is a common failure point in this system. The small operating valve (attached to the radiator shroud) which controls that large valve also fails. If the problem is the small operating valve, correct it as soon as possible because when it fails it holds open the large valve and quickly ruins your new pump.
