timing question 850 1997

I decided to change the timing belt on my 97 850. I followed the instructions on Bay 13 and even rechecked the timing by hand turning the engine a couple of times. The marks were still good. I next ran the engine a minute or two and when I rechecked the timing again. The marks were now off: one notch advanced on the intake side and one notch retardrd on the exhaust side. Is this within "tolerance" or should it be redone? Is there a way to readjust without tearing the whole thing apart? Thanks

Are you sure you are looking at the marks when the crankshaft pulley is lined up on it's mark??

There is no 'tolerance' allowed. If you line up the crank pulley correctly on it's timing mark, then the inlet and exhaust cam pulleys should line up on their respective marks. If they don't, then do it again. Cheers, Phil.
