NEW AIR PUMP & AIR PUMP RELAY AND STILL NO ACTION 850 1997

I have replaced the air pump and air pump relay and double checked to see if all connections are snug. I still get no action from the fan motor unless I run a wire directly from the batery to the motor. What else should I replace or what should I do next? PLEASE Help!!
THANK YOU,
Mark

I believe there's also a temp sensor involved with the operation of the air pump. As mentioned it's only used on cold engine startup. The extra air in the exhaust gets the catalytic converter heated up quicker.

I hope you didn't forget that the air pump only works at cold engine start, and then only for about 2 minutes. Is your CEL still lit? The ECU may have to cycle a couple of times before the CEL goes off.
The air pump is easy to check. There is an air supply hose from the air cleaner to the pump. Just squeeze it lightly and you will be able to feel the pulses of air being gulped by the pump.

      Hello Klaus,
The check engine light is not on when I attempt to start the car or at any other time. I was told by the NC inspector that it should be on when you turn the key to start. I am still getting a code of p0410 which I cannot reset with my OBDII.
      THANKS AGAIN,
      Mark
