850 Dash lights on while driving. 850

Lights in instrument panel are on while driving. Having problems with battery drain. Saw smoke from area near alternator. Had problems with clogged flame trap. Replaced. Any suggestions on what the problem could be. Would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.

Which lights? What year is your 850?

If it is just the alternator light, looks like a battery, and there was smoke coming from the alternator, then I would take a wild guess that you need a new alternator. Or one from a junk yard.

If you have a 1994 or 1995, check the codes in the diagnostic boxes. Otherwise, stop by an Autozone and have the guys there read your engine codes.

Thanks Klaus, it's a 95 850 non-turbo. All of the lights except one or two are lit while driving. Looking into problem further. Replacing the positive battery cable at the moment.

Thanks again,

Choge1

Multiple warning lights is an odd symptom. Try wiggling the key around while your car is running, see if that changes things.

I suspect the electrical portion of your ignition switch.
