Foul weather lamp replacement V70-XC70 1998

1998 V70 (Placed in service June 1997), 130,000 miles

Tail light filament of the Foul Weather lamp on drivers side is burned out. When I check at Advance Auto, Auto Zone etc. they show the replacement lamp is Sylvania 7225 (P21/4w)

Problem is the locator pins on old lamp are 180 deg apart but on the replacement 7225 they are about 160 deg apart so lamp cannot be inserted.

Anyone know what the story is on this? Or where I can get a correct replacement bulb? (Other than a dealer)

Thanks

Abuelo

Very interesting... On the sedans, the fog light is the same as the brake light, but on wagons it is the same as a regular tail light.
Look up the bulb number again, with the burned out bulb in hand, and make sure the chart says V and not S 70.
Because the packs come in 2s, you might also want to put the extra bulb in the right hand side lense.

Thanks for the response ..... but not sure I understand.

My V70 taillight assy. contains 3 lamps. The upper is a combo Tail/Brake light. The middle is the backup light. And the lower (driver side) is a combo Tail/Foul Weather light.

How do the upper and lower lamps server a dual purpose if they do not have dual filaments?

      Thanks.

I just checked my V70 and they are 1157 Phillips, dual filliment on both sides. The wiring is different, so the fog only works on the left side.

BTW - I'm located in Eastern NC about 40 minutes from beach. If close at all ..... I owe you a beer (or coffee).

          Thanks again.

The auto zone bulb you have is for an 01 and newer v 70. You need a standard 1156 single filament, same as your brake lights.

Sorry,I had S 70 stuck in my head. Are the lugs offset in hight, and 180 deg apart?

Bob .... yes, distance of "lugs" from base of lamp is different and they are located 180 deg apart on perimeter of lamp base. Lamp is dual filament.
