How often should the serpentine belt be replaced? What about the fuel filter?

thanks,
David

maintainance question S40-V40

Warranty/service manual for my 2002 S40 shows the serpentine belt as an item to check at 60 and 90K mi.

Says to replace the serpentine belt, timing belt, tensioner, and fuel filter all at 105K mi.

Do you know of a pic to show where the Serpentine belt is located? I would like to check the condition.

thanks,
David

The serpentine belt is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It will be visible without any parts or cover removal and drives the AC compressor, alternator and power steering pump. Flat and about an inch wide. Look for fine cracks (sign or drying out) or damage.

If you want to inspect the timing belt, it is under a plastic cover on the same side of the engine.

Is the serpentine belt easy to replace? Are there any instructions online?

thanks,
David
