Help finding CV split boot (outer) S70 1998

Recently, my outer CV boot began to split, attempting to buy some time, I did a hack repair with some shrinkwrap and a blowdryer to keep the grease inside. Well, after a short trip across Northern California, I noticed the boot was completely missing! After calling every auto store in 20 miles, and searching for 3 hours online, I can't seem to find an actual split (speedi?) boot to give myself another few months before I replace the entire 150 part. I found tons of solid boots that came up when searching for a split boot repair kit. I am currently borrowing my parents 91 740 while I wait and it's killing me. I miss my S70 badly and, as a student, really need to skip the full repair as nothing has been damaged yet.

Please, can anyone help me find a plit boot for the outer CV of my 98 S-70?

Thanks

Mike

Just tried to find one today. They're not available. A standard outer boot kit is about $15. Not impossible to replace, but your CV joint will require complete disassembly and cleaning and regreasing . . . make sure the balls go back in the correct spots, and inspect carefully for damage . . and you're still taking a chance on it.

Somebody on Volvospeed has posted a tutorial on replacing the outer boot. Not a horrendous job, but you need some decent tools and a workbench with a vise.

If the boot is gone, the axle will need to be replaced. The dirt has already done enough damage to warrant it. Besides, a new axle is faster (less labor) than trying to clean/grease/cover the damaged one.
You might as well drive the S70. You cannot save the CV anymore.

I agree with Klaus. We Drove my Wife's V70 without a boot for about 4 months before we were able to replace the axle. Can't guarantee your axle will hold out that long though (mine was very near completely seizing up)
