Where do I find maintenance info? S40-V40

I need help finding basic DIY info for my '06 S40, 2.4i, 5 spd. For years I've done my own work from the '57 444 to the '93 240. There's all kinds of manuals & help out there for those cars but, except for this & a few other forums, I can't find anything reliable for the newer S40s. Haven't a clue as to how to even change the plugs. There's a drain cock for the radiator to flush coolant but what about for the engine block? All I've been able to do myself is change the oil/filter, air filter, rotate the tires & keep it clean. Getting frustrated! Or should I just let the dealer or indy do the rest? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Cal

Where do I find maintenance info? S40-V40

This will not answer your question, but I am highlighting this issue for other non-US S40 owners. Small chance it might still be relevant to you, don't know.

On the early S40 which was not available in the US due to not being OBDII compliant, the engine would recalibrate itself when you clear the service indicator reminder. Unfortunately on most of them they've used a Siemens Fenix 5.1 ECU which has a propriatory communications protocol and basically only Volvo can reset the reminder. I do not know what was done on later models, but definately for those early ones it is recommended making friends with the local dealer to get the service reminder reset.

I believe that with the OBDII requirment the intention was to allow any shop to read out errors and reset what needs to be reset, to alow emissions maintenance.

Check out s40concepts.net. Someone there has Vadis. Also, many helpful people there on the S40 forum.

Check your local library and see if they have the Alldata database online. The other option is to scan Ebay and look for a pirated version of VADIS on a CD.

I have a subscription to Alldata for my V40 and it is only mildly useful. It provided me the torque specs I was looking for in order to replace my brakes. It is an OK site - but it does not give lots of illustrations that I am used to in my Toyota shop manuals.

      I would recommend alldata - it's a 25 dollar subscription for 1 car for 1 year.
