Took trip to SoCal this last weekend. While down there started hearing increasing noise from right front side of motor. Stopped at mechanic in Riverside. He sprayed something in a spot up front and said that the Crankcase Ventilation (don't remember his exact phrase)was going bad. He said that this was super typical for this year of S40 (2004.5) and I should go to dealer and have the thing replaced--even though I'm a few thousand out of warranty. At the time I was more worried about getting home without destroying anything. He said it would be ok to drive and that it would go away once under a load and would only idle rough. He nailed both of these on the head. Please confirm that this is "super typical" and advise on fix.
