850 turbo radiator replacement 850

Need to clear up radiator replacement instructions. Haynes manual instructs to remove the fan and fan shroud and lift out the radiator. Chilton manual instructs to remove fan and fan shroud and drop down the radiator. Volvospeed does not instruct to remove the fan or fan shroud and to drop down the radiator. Question: Does the fan or fan shroud need to be removed to drop down the radiator?

    Yes it does, you can try removing the fan and shroud from the radiator itself but leaving it more or less in position but I find that it is more of a hassle than if you just pull them out of the way completely. Also, it is usually a little easier if you pull the fan and then the shroud rather than try to pull them as an assembly.

      thanks for the clarification. Mechanics out here want 95 per hour at 3.5 hours for radiator and hose replacement not to mention the 345 for the radiator.

          Yeah, no kidding, I only get $80.00 and hour. Otherwise it sounds like they are right on the money with that estimate, make sure you stuff in a new thermostat while you are in there, and heck while we are spending other people's money go ahead and put in a new engine coolant temp sender too. It's only money, right?
