98 T5 with 140k miles....when I start the car there is a vibration type noise directly in front of the driver's seat,under the hood. After the car has run a minute or so the noise stops etc. Anyone with an idea what this might be? Car runs fairly well.

    I have the same year and model...and just posted a similar post. Dealer says it is the air pump that Klaus mentions and that it will need to be replaced for $1000. Maybe we can find the details and solution? Tom R

    There is the air pump directly in front of the left front wheel. This pump only runs for the first minute or so after a cold start. There may be water collecting in the pump, and that needs to be drained.
