Innova OBD2 Code Reader Question

I just purchased a used Innova Code Reader and was looking at the blue connector that connects to the car. The end is trapezoid shaped with 8 pins on top and 6 pins on bottom but spots for two other pins. Is this normal or are those two pins supposed to be there? If you happen to have this reader please take a look.

Thanks,
Marc

Innova OBD2 Code Reader Question

I have an older Equus Innova 3100, and it works fine on my '99 S70. Although I don't recall whether all pins are present on my cable, I do recall that when I researched OBDII scan tools several years ago, I found that not all pins are utilized. I'm sure yours is fine -- just plug it in and try it out. Unscrew your gas cap for a day if you want to create a code to check it with.

Innova OBD2 Code Reader Question V70-XC70 1998

I tried connecting: plugged it in, turned key to ignition and keep getting "error" message. I'm going to try it on a 2001 Toyota to verify the reader is operational.

Innova OBD2 Code Reader Question V70-XC70 1998

Did you get a manual with yours? (You can download it from http://www.iequus.com.) Also, what model is your code reader?

I just went out to take a look at my 3100's cable. All 25 pins are present on the reader's (DB-25) side of the cable, but the OBDII terminal side of the cable only has 6 pins present. The cable that I have has "OBDII IEC (copyright symbol) 2000" molded into the OBDII side, and the DB-25 side has the following molded into the body: MRP#05-4248. The cable is all black, not blue like yours.

What's curious is that if you look at this page...

http://www.iequus.com/product_info.php?product_id=3100&category_id=1_10_7

... they show the blue cable that you're probably referring to. But if you click on the "Replacement Cable" link on that same page, they show you the all-black cable that I have. That's probably not the issue, though.

One last thought is that you might try replacing the batteries in your reader. Good luck.
