I have a chance of getting a 1997 850, non-turbo. It was owned by a preist and he only put 43K on it (i don't think he's lying)...he was asking $6500. It has been garaged and the service is great. Any thought about the price or possible problems that it might have? Let me know. Thanks.

    As kshaw mentioned, change the timing belt.

    If you look in the Volvo maintenance manual, all maintenance is mileage or TIME.

    Consider fluid changes, especially brake fluit.

    Low miles can be a great buy.

    How about $4,000 for the car and $2500 for a church donation (tax deductable, of course:))
    Remember, no on board DTC. You will need a scanner.

    I would probably change the timing belt and serpentine belt just because of the age. Check the tires for cracking around the tire walls. Sounds like a real find to me.

    Aside from a carfax and some maint history if it's available and based on the fact that it looks like you already have one from your sig, (your probably familiar with the 850)...I would drive it and decide. Aside from not being a turbo, it sounds good just based on what you've said there. I would make a lower offer of course.
