Future Diesel Engine Availability S70

I'd like to buy my wife a Volvo in the near future. Does anyone have any information as to whether Volvo will be offering a diesel engine in the near future? I received a marketing survey from them last year that asked a number of questions about alternate fuel engines. Also, any chance that the retro (boxy) styling will make a comeback?

    at nearly $3 per gallon for diesel... I'd like to see Volvo (Ford) pursue a non-carbon based solution...and let the rest of the manufacturers 'catch up'...

    I am with you, would love to see the D5 diesel here in the Wagon and sedan form with the option of a manual transmission, but I think it will be at a minimum 2010 before you see a Volvo diesel here. They will wait until Mercedes, VW, Honda and Nissan break the way for them. They are two small to invest in bringing a diesel in and have it flop. I am going to drive my V70 T5 for another 100K and hope by then I have some diesel options other than Mercedes an VW, neither of which I am too crazy about.
