94 turbo, won't start,or click. lights work???? 850

I just bought this car 2 days agoo and it was runniing perfectly fine then I went to work overnight shift and when i go t out at 7 am and the temp was 10 degrees the car would not start I gave it a jump, did not start. The lights work but the car does nothing. I was wondering if there was a anti-theft switch that I should know about because it just DIED, and I'm hoping it was something like that or similar that may be causing it to not budge. I would appreciate any help

There is no hidden switch for the factory security system. If you have a battery with at least 10 volts, a jump will verify that, and there is no "clicking" of the starter, you have an electrical problem.

Check the small wire at the starter, make sure there is good contact. When you put the key in pos II, you should hear the fuel pump and all of the dash lights come on. In pos III, the head lights go out and the starter cranks. Behind the key portion of the ignition switch is an electrical switch, which may have failed. If that is the case, the headlights will not go off.

Replacing the electrical portion of the ignition switch is fairly easy, except for removing the clamshell around the steering column. Two of the torx screws are 5 inches into the clam shell. The ignition switch is large and round and easy to remove.

Sometimes this will happen to my wagon. If I move the car slightly (key turned to accesory position, car is not running, shift to N, move car a bit, shift back to P) it will realign some elec connection and it starts up just fine. Someone else will have to explain the mechanical reason for this. Good luck.
